Disney On Ice

This past weekend we took Karina and her friend Jalese to see Disney on Ice. They both love Cinderella and Mickey and Minnie and so we knew they'd have a great time. We dressed them up as princesses and they had their crowns and wands. When we got to the United Center where it was showing they ended up moving us to better seats because it was not a sold out show, so we got awesome seats on a lower level facing the front of the stage and when we walked in the girls were mezmerized. Whenever they would see Cinderella they would wave their wands and yell, "hi Cinderella!" It was so cute! Here are some pics of them and the show.

First Gymnastics Class

We decided to help Karina expand her social world a little bit and so we enrolled her in a gymnastics class at a nearby gymnastics academy. When we first got there she really wasn't sure that she even wanted to be there, but halfway through the class she was excited and climbing on all of the equipment. Abel already has her slated for the 2024 Olympics!! Here are some pics of her class.

Small Town Fun

On Sunday night we went with our good friends Josh and Jen and their daughter Jalese (Karina's really good friend) to the Monee Fall Fair. It was just a small town fair at a park right behind their house so we put the girls in strollers and walked there. They had food and some carnival rides and fireworks at the end. So halfway through the evening we thought it would be fun for Karina and Jalese to ride one of the rides. Just some little cars that went around like a merry go round. Well, turns out it was NOT a good idea. They were okay with getting in the car and still okay when the guy started the ride, but then us crazy parents started shouting, "hi Karina, hi Jalese!!" And apparently that freaked them out! We should have just smiled and waved :)

At this point everything is still ok.

Not OK!!

After we got back to Josh & Jen's house they were just having fun pushing each other in the stroller.

Go Cowboys!!

In honor of Daddy's favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys, Karina wore her Tony Romo jersey on Sunday, which was the season opener for Dallas. Go Cowboys!!

Weekend at the Homestead

This past weekend we went to Champaign because we had multiple things going on. Abel is an usher at all of the U of I football home games, so that was on Saturday and then also, Grandma & Grandpa Beachy and Uncle Elmer and Aunt Rose from Indiana came down for the weekend. We all got there on Friday and we stayed until Saturday night, the others until Sunday.

Also on Saturday evening, my cousins Dar & Beth (Uncle Elmer's son) and their two girls Jessie and Alli came over from the Bloomington area where they live to have a cookout with us. We played Bocci ball, had some awesome food and watched the neighbors horses out in the field next to us. My nephews Luke and Kolton and Dar's girls were brave enough to pet and feed the horses. Karina on the other hand is more than happy to look at them from a distance. She loves seeing them, just not up close!

Here's some pics of our weekend together.

Part of The Jonas Brothers Phenomenon

Anyone that has teenage girls or is around teenage girls is probably aware of the teenage Phenomenon that is the Jonas Brothers. And it just so happens that we took part in that Phenomenon! A couple of weeks ago we got to go to a Jonas Brothers concert and got to go backstage and meet them.

Just to give you an interesting little background, when we lived in Dallas, my mom and dad worked at Christ For The Nations at the same time that Kevin and Denise Jonas (which are the Jonas Brothers parents who travel with them all the time).

So after we met the Jonas Brothers before the concert, we were with some of our friends when we saw Kevin Sr. and he says to me, "You look so familiar, do I know you?" and I said, "Well you may remember me from CFNI and my parents Richard & Ruby Beachy". To which he responded, "Of course I remember the Beachy's!" So then we went into another room and saw Denise and she says, "you look so familiar...." and of course she remembered mom and dad too. So I was like go mom and dad!

Anyway, we had a great time, they put on an incredible show and I've never heard anything so loud in all my life as 28,000 screaming teenage girls (and Abel too) as the JoBros walked out onto the stage...
